This past weekend Jason and I went to Seoul. I love Chuncheon but it was very nice to go to a very big city for the weekend and have a change of scenery.
We hopped on the train on Friday and got to Seoul in the late afternoon. We stopped at Subway and had a late lunch/early dinner... it was so good! After eating Subway subs we went to Tapgol Park and took quite a few pictures.
My throat had been bothering me since Tuesday evening but after taking some otc meds it was still hurting quite a bit. I was worried I had strep so Jason and I made our way to the hospital. In Korea if you have anything wrong with you you go to the hospital. It was a holiday weekend so the closest hospital that was open was the Seoul National University Hospital. The flier at the information office said that there was an International Clinic but it was apparently closed so I got to go to the ER.
Luckily after seeing a nurse who spoke enough English and two doctors, one of which spoke almost no English and one who spoke decent English, I found out I did not have strep but my throat was very badly swollen. I also had a fever. So, to help I was given some strong pain medication for my throat and the doctor gave me some antibiotics (you always get antibiotics when you see a doctor here it seems like) to try to kill whatever was making my throat so badly swollen.
Jason hated the hospital with a passion, not just because it was a hospital but because of the lack of gloves, no hand washing, and the general uncleanliness of the room I was sitting in with four other patients. More than anything I just wanted to make sure I didn't have strep throat, get something for the pain, and get the heck out of there.
After the trip to the hospital, I didn't feel bad at all and neither of us were tired so Jason and I walked around and took pictures of the Buddhist temple near our hotel.
Saturday we got up, ate breakfast, and headed out shopping. We got some stuff at Namdaemun Market and then headed over to Yongsan Electronics Market to buy a small camera. The camera we decided to buy so we would have something small to take with us places that we didn't want to take our expensive cameras to.
We also got some DVDs and I thought it would be nice to have a personal DVD player so when we go on trips we can watch movies on the train, bus, and in our hotel room if we so choose.
Jason got to use the small camera first. He went out clubbing Saturday night for a co-worker's b-day and did not want to take his nice camera with him. The little Casio is a good camera that also takes videos (wooo!). Jason had fun taking pictures while he was out and about Saturday night. While he was out partying I was enjoying the DVDs we bought on the personal DVD player. I got to watch several episodes of Scrubs and enjoyed resting on a pretty comfortable bed.
The pain medicine the doctor gave me was very strong so I was pretty out of it Saturday and Sunday. I wasn't in pain though which was nice. lol We came back to Chuncheon on Sunday and finished lesson planning.
On Tuesday I got to have fun with the new Casio camera. I got to take pictures of a gorgeous sunset from the third floor of the building Jason's office is in at the university. We were on our way out to eat dinner when we saw this...
After dinner we walked home and saw someone who looked very cute...
Don't you just love the slippers and dyed tail? LOL
